Grand Piano House Inc. was founded over 28 years ago. In November of 1982 the showroom doors opened for what would become one of the Greater Toronto Area’s highly regarded piano retail stores. The founder, Mr. Walter Schienke, launched the family-run business supported by his 20+ years of experience in the piano trade industry as a piano master craftsman. At Grand Piano House Inc., we are now moving into our 2nd generation of family ownership and are excited at the changes being explored in the piano industry.

It should come as no surprise that over the years, those many customers who were on their quest for a new piano were happy and in many cases relieved to be able to find a retail piano store such as Grand Piano House Inc. Here the customers found that they were not being ‘sold’ a piano by a salesperson but rather they were dealing directly with a piano craftsman who understood what goes into the making of a good piano. Today, this tradition continues at Grand Piano House Inc. with Walter Schienke’s son, John Schienke, carrying on the family business. He was an apprentice of his father and learned the fine art of piano tuning and rebuilding and today carries the family tradition of personally servicing the pianos before they leave the showroom and following up personally once the piano has been delivered to the customers home.
